We’re all born into the second act of a tragedy – in – progress then spend the rest of our lives trying to figure out what went wrong in the first act
— Canadian writer Sylvia Fraser
I have a background in publishing and am also a qualified yoga teacher in the Scaravelli-inspired tradition. I discovered meditation in India in 1998 and felt such a profound internal shift that I decided to integrate spiritual enquiry with a psychotherapy training on my return to the UK. I began my MA in Core Process Psychotherapy in 2001.
This mindfulness-based approach to psychotherapy grounds my work, and I have gone on to study many other models. I have found the integration of the different approaches to working with the mind and body to be essential to being able to meet whatever clients bring.
A little about me
In psychotherapy, we face contradictions and allow ourselves to grieve the past rather than attempting to relive or reconstruct it. The process involves seeking clarity where there is obscurity. This stands in contrast to much of what dominates the current cultural climate. In my work, I remain deeply aware that each individual is also part of a larger collective, and this understanding shapes my therapeutic approach.
I am committed to my own ongoing learning and feel extremely grateful to have excellent integrative and analytical supervision as well as my own in-depth psychotherapy.
As well as being a psychotherapist and supervisor in private practice, I am a psychotherapy trainer at the Karuna Institute in Bristol, where I also hold the role of Academic Coordinator. Due to boundary considerations, I am not able to work with anyone on the Karuna training until post-accreditation. I am part of an International psychotherapy study group and regularly attend trainings and seminars to keep up to date with developments in the field. I have a committed yoga and meditation practice. I am an accredited member of United Kingdom Council of Psychotherapy (UKCP), a member of the Association of Core Process Psychotherapists (ACPP), the Relational School of Psychotherapists (TRS) and the International Association of Relational Psychoanalysts and Psychotherapists (IARPP).
I am fully insured and abide by the code of ethics of UKCP
